USA Swimming Suit Rule Change

FINA, the organization that governs international swimming competitions, and USA Swimming have adopted new rules regarding acceptable swim suits for competition. These rules effectively ban many of the high-tech suits that have become popular among elite athletes in recent years. More relevant for swimmers at the club level, the rules also include the following restrictions:  Swimsuits for men may not extend above the navel or below the knee and for women may not cover the neck or extend past the shoulders or below the knee; and no zippers or other fastening devices are allowed except for a waist tie on a brief or jammer.

Missouri Valley Swimming adopted rules last year that were at least this restrictive for all swimmers 14 and under.
